"Rakusidou-Nenroku"(楽只堂年録)is the historical documents and diary of Yanagisawa Yoshiyasu(1658〜1714, 柳沢吉保). In this diary, there is an interesting description. That is when Hohei(宝永)2th(1705), at the Yoshiyasu's residence, the scholar vassal of Yoshiyasu held a discussion about one Chinese character commanded Chinese language. Then Yanagisawa's secretaries took notes of this discussion, they put the Chinese language phoneme on record in hiragana, so we can know the pronunciation at that time. I compared those days pronunciation, there is little difference between those days and contemporary
